Chapter 1: Thinking Critically in College

Our first assumption about critical thinking in the academic world is that personal opinions need to be backed by logic and evidence in or der to be accepted and/or respected

Our second assumption is the cornerstone to analyzing your views: Always ask "Why?" Nothing is taken for granted; everything is examined...How do we know if what you say is true? If it is true, how do we know it supports your position? Even if we accept what you say, we must go one step futher and ask how this information relates to what we already know:"What difference does this make in my life?
